Interesting Galaxian bootleg (eng) Drucken E-Mail

This is an interesting bootleg of Galaxian. I got the board without the program roms so I burned me the Galaxian/Super Galaxian combo on a new ROM. I also replaced the 7N/7L rams with a 6116.

When I fired the whole thing up it worked - this barely happens when I get an old board;) The first strange thing I noted was that instead of PTS it wrote PKT (which is an abbr. for Punkte - points in german). So could it be that this is a German bootleg??? The logo was also strange, take a look at the screenshot. It says something like: "edirgina" or "dir tina" - or is the logo scrambled because of the program that was altered for the bootleg version and was now replaced with the original?. The graphics are also totally different from any emulated galaxian clone... The gameplay works however (obviously because it uses the orig. program), with no corrupt graphics or sound which makes me suspect that this clone is different from the original in that:

  • the object and graphics roms were altered
  • the program probably was only modified (if at all) to display another title
  • perhaps the color prom was altered too (i am still not quite sure which pins are blue and green)

So if you have any info on this clone please let me know. I am sure this game is not yet dumped so here's another new galaxian clone! Here are some closeups of the board:

"International Scientific" - I haven't found anything on this company which is probably long gone...

I have no way to dump the ROMs and PROM. Dumping definitely only makes sense when there's a complete pcb available. I will keep my eyes open...
